Saint Elias parish was founded in 1903, and the church was built in 1907. It is also known as the Palamaryk church. Land for the church and cemetery was donated, along with the spruce logs for its construction. The church is typical of Orthodox architecture from the Boyko region of Ukraine. Midway between the ground and the roof, it has an eave, which is not very common. It is only one of the few historic Orthodox churches with this feature. The parish is still part of the Orthodox Church in America. No services have been held for several decades in the church building. From 2011 to 2013, the exterior of the church underwent restoration with a new roof, window restoration, and a fresh coat of paint.
In 2014, the church was the Heritage Architecture Excellence Award for exterior restoration. We have visited the church multiple times between 2009 and the present.
