Arran - Church of St. John the Baptist

Ukrainian Catholic church in Arran, Saskatchewan

St. John the Baptist is the parish's second church in Arran, Saskatchewan. The first church had a foundation laid in 1916, but it was too small, so in 1917 a larger church was constructed through donations. Unfortunately, in 1924, the church and hall were destroyed by a fire.

The second church you see here was built in 1925. The parish hall was built in 1935. Located in the town of Arran, the church is constructed of wood and has a large dome and two small domes on frontal towers. The church has four crosses.

The church is west-east oriented and has an open porch on the front. We have never been inside but have read it has electrical lighting, oil heating, a wooden floor, and wooden pews. There are beautiful paintings inside as well.

The church is under the pastoral charge of Arran.
