Tullymet Schoolhouse: The Stone One-Room School of Rural Saskatchewan

A glimpse into an abandoned 1907 prairie school built from field stones and its quiet legacy

Tullymet stone schoolhouse was a one-room schoolhouse on the prairies. Built in 1907 from stones collected from nearby fields it was used until 1952. The interior was lined with wood and tin pieces along the bottom half of the walls. The school was clearly sold and used for storage. Today it is abandoned with no path leading to it. The corners were supported by concrete which has helped it form collapsing. There are signs of decay and collapse of the stone due to lack of maintenance.

*name has been changed as this building is at risk*

We do a full video walkthrough of this old stone schoolhouse - check it out!
