Mitchellton, Saskatchewan

Mitchellton, Saskatchewan - one building to hold the communities memories.

The former town of Mitchellton, Saskatchewan, located southwest of Regina, is a true ghost town. The people are gone, the streets are empty and overgrown, and the buildings are gone. Only one building remains - the community hall.

One of the town’s most notable landmarks was St. James Presbyterian Church, constructed in 1912. In 1923, it became St. James United Church following the church union. The building was later moved to Mitchellton, Saskatchewan, in 1958, where it continued to serve the community until it ceased operation in 1986. The building was being prepped to move on our visit around 2009.
