Kenosee Superslides

A Final Look from Above at Saskatchewan’s Beloved Prairie Waterpark

For decades, Kenosee Superslides stood as one of Saskatchewan’s most recognizable summer attractions. Tucked into the trees near Kenosee Lake, the twisting blue and white slides were a rite of passage for prairie kids. Field trips, family reunions, camping weekends- no summer felt complete without the climb to the top platform and the rush back down.

Opened in 1986 the park ran until it's closure in 2020. There was an attempt to reopen in 2021, but that failed and it has sat abandoned since. In 2025, we droned the abandoned buildings and slides and in 2025. It was announced that the provincial government would demolish them by spring 2026.

From the air, the once-busy waterpark looked almost surreal. The overgrown paths and empty lazy river, once filled with echoes of laughter. Nature had begun reclaiming the edges, softening the outlines of what used to be a place of noise and motion.

Drone photography offers a unique kind of perspective - one that captures both scale and stillness. From above, you can see how the park fit into the surrounding landscape, how close it was to the lake, and how small the slides now seem compared to the vast horizon. It’s a reminder of how quickly landmarks can shift from present-day gathering places to memory.

With demolition set for 2026, these 2025 aerial images serve as a time capsule. They document not just structures of fiberglass and steel, but decades of prairie summers. Places like Kenosee Superslides aren’t just attractions — they’re chapters in local history.

And now, they’re part of Saskatchewan’s disappearing past.
