In case you're having deja vu, yes, you have seen this house. It was built as a movie set for the 2007 film "The Messengers" and then abandoned. You can view our exploration here.
When we are in the area we always drive nearby and take a look (with binoculars) to see if anything has changed. In 2024, we drove past and noticed the building was white. We didn't need binoculars to see that. We quickly pulled out the telephoto and binoculars to see what was going on. From what we could tell, it was painted white and fake greenery was added to the outside. It looks like it was repurposed for something.
It was too windy on our original visit to the drone, so we returned and sent the drone out to take a few photos. It was as expected, painted white, fake plants added, and the entire house was boarded up.
We figured it was used for another production, but it was hard to find much information. Not long after our drone trip, we found out that it was used to film a movie called "Die Alone." The movie is local and they used this location as well as some other sites in Regina and Qu'Appelle. The movie is about a zombie outbreak and a man with amnesia trying to survive. The movie came out in 2024.
Impressive that this location was used for another movie 17 years later. We wonder what the future holds for this site. It is on private property and they have appeared to plow over the only access road and post the land. If you want to see it, get permission.
We fly the drone around the abandoned movie set house - check it out!
