Dankin, SK - Elevators

Two grain elevators at Dankin, Saskatchewan

All that stands at Dankin, Saskatchewan is two grain elevators. The name “Dankin” came from combining the last names of Bob Daniels and Bill King, who were early settlers in the region. The older elevator, “Dankin B” was built in 1927 by the United Grain Growers with a capacity of 30,000 bushels.  Saskatchewan Wheat Pool purchased the elevator in 1955 and it became “Saskatchewan Pool No. 847”.

The other elevator was built in 1928 and had a capacity of 35,000 bushels.  It was Saskatchewan Pool No. 834.  Both elevators closed in 1975 and were abandoned.  We visited Dankin a few short months before they were demolished. We had no idea at the time but we were glad we detoured so we could drone these two beautiful pieces of history before they were lost.
